Design and manufacturing are two sides of the same coin, yet often they seem dislocated from each other, with designers specifying objects that can’t be made, and manufacturers closing for a lack of objects to make. This lack of connectedness therefore doesn’t just impact the quality of design, but it’s also a missed opportunity to keep local, British manufacturing alive. To combat this, Design Everything launched ‘Design Everything Visits’, where designers visit factories, workshops and micro-manufacturers. As well working to address the topics above, they’re also just fun opportunities to nerd out and gaze at the amazing machines and processes normally hidden behind warehouse doors! If you are interested in hosting a visit please email designeverythinguk@gmail.com, stating:
⁃ What you manufacture and how.
⁃ Your maximum capacity.
⁃ Your available time/date slots.

The first of this series started with a tour of AB Fine Art Foundry – thank you Calvin for the experience to see the facilities and how you produce your major works!
