Recycled milk bottle plastic plate
Designing from my childhood bedroom meant creating without a proper studio, materials, or specialised tools. Without access to heavy-duty industrial presses or dedicated moulds, I had to improvise using household Pyrex dishes to compress hand-cut, melted plastic.
Because I couldn’t apply the extreme pressure or high heat required to fully fuse the material, the plate retains visible open ‘pores’, shifting the final piece from a functional, food-safe product to a more expressive, decorative object.
Rather than letting tool scarcity stop the project, I embraced the constraints of my environment. I turned to the most abundant resource in my home: discarded milk bottles. This lack of proper machinery informed a resourceful workaround, instilling a sustainable mindset that continues to define my practice.
