Luck Mirror
Starting during my studies, I’ve been sourcing materials such as wood offcuts collected from studio mates and workshops, discarded and split boards, and tree prunings, which allowed me to work with affordable materials. Combining my desire to work with natural, raw materials with my reluctance to throw away any scraps, I developed a process that combines a variety of woods through a system of joints, using little to no glue or screws. Relying on access to a CNC milling machine at work, a precise machine based on computer drawings, I manage to make the best out of every centimetre of material: larger boards for structural parts and smaller ones for decorative elements or joints.
The dimensions of each found material determine the final object: the width of a chair, the height of a mirror, the shade of a lamp… I work hand in hand with the resource while applying a consistent construction system. Through this process of addition, I believe that almost any typology can be created.
