Candelabra
The biggest limitation in my work is having no workshop, specialist tooling or access to large-scale manufacturing. Instead, I rely on outsourced laser-cut parts, stock materials and standardised fixings that are readily available. Rather than seeing these constraints as a compromise, they have become the foundation of my design practice. They don’t just determine how my objects are made; they shape how they look.
This candelabra is built from off-the-shelf 2 × 2 timber, cut-to-size aluminium extrusion and custom laser-cut components, assembled to echo the silhouette of a classical candelabra. By combining everyday materials with accessible manufacturing, I explore how resourcefulness can create objects with character and presence.
These ideas began during my time at university and now shape my practice moving forward. As I prepare to move to London, where space and money are at a premium, designing within limitations feels less like a restriction and more like an opportunity.
