Charlie Boyden is a British artist and designer who explores light, objects, and furniture. His work aims to interrogate the function of everyday things and respond through a thoughtful and reimagined landscape. Frequently working with 'waste,' he persuades the materials to dictate form and hopes to educate on the importance of creating beauty from the discarded.

Pine, oak, Douglas-fir, birch and sapele
655 x 780 x 900mm
Built from pine, oak, Douglas-fir, birch and sapele, this piece evolved as it was built. The work always starts with a rough idea and a set of restrictions, in this case the size was the restriction and various surplus material was the idea. ‘The form is not always known before I start, so by letting the material talk to me as I work with it, I’m able to find a way for each component to belong with the other.’
