Kozo lamp

The limitations for this lamp project were materials and time. It was a fun challenge utilising leftover materials from other projects, nabbing offcuts from the builders next door and a few hours here and there between jobs and deliveries. This was exciting as it meant design choices had to be quick and decisive in order to move the lamp forward. Rather than pondering endlessly, it opened up a more instinctive way of working regarding proportions, details and construction methods. The simplification of construction had an immediate impact on the form and decisions on proportion would be made swiftly and then considered out of the corner of my eye while working on something else. If it sat right, great, if not, have another go. Limiting yourself to using what’s to hand has been a fun challenge and I’m looking forward to taking this offcuts project further and exploring other iterations.
