STACKABLE TUBE PLANTERS

This project began with wanting to see how small-scale material experiments could be the seed for larger objects, working within limited financial and fabrication resources. Stock aluminium tubing, although limited in form, comes in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses. This variety allowed me to engage with aluminium’s material properties quickly before scaling interesting experiments into larger, finished objects.

Initially, working within a single hollow tube (round or square) felt restrictive. This limitation eventually pushed me into exploring every way a standard tube could be altered. Cutting, pressing, and welding experiments enabled me to shift the tube’s standard form into plant pots with a pressed, petal-like opening. The outcome illustrates how unmodified stock material can be translated into a functional object with minimal alterations.
