Warped Bookcase

I’m constantly looking for loopholes to craft full scale furniture be it seating, tables, sculpture or in this instance a bookcase, however acquiring high quality natural wood isn’t often feasible. Being resourceful with off-cuts from milling yards and finding timber that is otherwise undesirable due to natural imperfections has been a method that allows me to create furniture without compromising on material quality whilst staying affordable. The compromise for this typically becomes time as sourcing material in this fashion often means receiving scraps with rough sawn edges, warps, blemishes and all.

I’ve come to embrace the limitations of finances and accessible materials of scale to add further depth to my objects. The rough finish holds a raw honesty, the oak pegs holding the substantial beams were given away as fire wood but now put together it all serves a function.
