Anna McAllister is a Designer-Maker from London. Her design practice is focused on industrial materials and production techniques. Most of her work begins as an investigation into objects, processes and patterns. Models, tests and experiments enable her to cycle through several iterations before refining a final outcome. She finds this approach also leads to new observations, unexpected results and lots of fun along the way. When she's not in the studio, she's probably on her bike, listening to music, or taking photos.
A Seat at the Table: Chair 2
‘ISO 45’ is a laser-cut and folded sheet-metal stool with a powder-coated finish. Starting as a flat aluminium net, the path of the laser and the placement of the cuts are systematically determined by the sizing of regular timber sections. Working within the limits of these specifications, a new hybrid material typology is formed. The stool joins the ‘ISO Series’, an ongoing investigation into archetypal timber structures. This chair’s silhouette was inspired by a German agricultural fence.
